Review:

We LOVE books that entertain as well as educate, and this book definitely fits the bill! Aimed at ages 8 - 12, grades 3 - 6, this small (64 pages) book packs a SERIOUS amount of information! Something that we've found with Miss Grace is that the funnier, the more 'kid accessible' information is, then the better she REMEMBERS it!

The Know Nonsense Guide to Grammar sample 1

As you can see- it is easy to remember the verb, when you remember the pie eating contest and sentence! Miss Grace laughed her way through the book and declared it 'fun!', so I know the intended age group will concur! And as we have found for her audio/visual learning style, these type fo books/activities, really CEMENT the knowledge better that a boring textbook! As you can see from the Table of Contents below, the book covers a LOT of info in its' pages:

While not a primary means of teaching grammar, it is a FUN FUN FUN way to review and make sure your kids understand the different concepts! Or use it for a Summer review, to keep that brain drain from occurring! The author has 2 additional books in the series, The Know-Nonsense Guide to Measurement (coming out next month) and  The Know-Nonesense Guide to Money (unfortunately not coming out til November). The Measurement one would be great for reviewing math concepts as well over the Summer, so consider picking both up to beat the Summer 'I'm Boreds", while educating their brains!
